Masha knows how to sew soft textile toys. She doesn't teach workshops and rarely uses a sewing machine, making everything by hand. This handicraft generates income for her. In the video, she shows her workspace and explains how she managed to turn creativity into a full-time job and sell her handicrafts on Instagram. Masha has a small hobby area, but since her creations are tiny, this work surface is quite sufficient. The craftswoman rents a room in the center of St. Petersburg and sometimes feels sad that she can't fully embrace her creative side. Sometimes she feels different because she earns money with her own hands instead of sitting in a stuffy office. Each of her characters resembles a fairytale character – the paws of the bunnies and cats bend, the teddy bear's hat has a small bead, the dog's nose is hand-sculpted from paper and painted with acrylics, and the large soft wolf sits in a warm knitted sweater. Masha ships her creations in handmade wooden boxes, like the one with the tangerines, which she makes herself out of spatulas. Some parts are made of paper (papier-mâché), such as airplanes, birds, life preservers, and airships. To speed up the drying process, Masha bakes the paper parts in the oven. Then she paints them and adds details for realism. Masha finds commissioned work very challenging; she doesn't like to repeat her toys, trying to create new characters. Furthermore, she finds it difficult to explain how her characters are created; patterns, if any, are unmarked, making it difficult to tell which part comes from which animal. She relies on her intuition when creating, and it's difficult for her to explain how to do it correctly, so she doesn't hold workshops. She also has no problem finding inspiration; she constantly wants to sew characters, and it's hard to stop. Small textile toys are created without a sewing machine, the pieces are hand-sewn, and tiny hats are knitted with needles instead of large knitting needles. Masha has few professional tools for her work, only recently buying a pair of handy scissors, and her sewing machine was a gift from friends.
