100% Olive Oil (Castile) Soap

Join me as I make natural handmade soaps using only olive oil- in other words making castile soaps. Recipe: Olive oil: 180 ml NaOH: 24.5 gr Water: 40 ml ** (Read below) **Soap Maker’s Note: This recipe uses 40 ml of water, which is a 22% water-to-oil ratio (a severe water discount). Water discounting makes soap trace and thicken faster, helps it harden more quickly, and reduces curing time- but it also leaves less time for swirls and may cause the batter to seize if we are not careful. 👉 It is recommended to always run your formula through a soap calculator (such as SoapCalc) to adjust the correct water and lye weight for your oils. Honey Tip: Avoid adding honey directly to oils (it won’t dissolve) or to lye water (it may caramelise and darken your soap). Instead, dilute it with a little warm water and add it gently at light trace. Full details on lye preparation and safety measures in soap making:    • Video   Have fun soap making!
