June 18, 2026. The meeting “Can a Country Continue to Exist Outside Its Geography?”, the third and final session of the series “Techaga’ú / Nostalgia that a Country Brings,” organized by Casa de América and the Embassy of Paraguay, aims to publicly conclude a phase of documentary research initiated in Spain around this central question. Throughout the series, different voices have offered possible answers. Paraguay has appeared in memory, in language, in music, in work, in love, in affection, in the way of caring, and in the way of sustaining community far from its homeland. In this final session at Casa de América, a symbolic space for the project, the intention is to continue seeking these answers. Not from an abstract idea, but from a concrete presence in the lives of those who carry it within them: Paraguayans who have built their lives in Spain and Spaniards deeply marked by their country. The session will pay special attention to solidarity as a way of being Paraguayan and a way of being in the world. From their work in medicine, social commitment, professional careers, cultural creation, and personal ties to Paraguay, the guests will contribute new perspectives to a collective portrait that doesn't end there, but remains open for further exploration in the documentary Techaga’u Guive.
