Phnom Penh Hip Hop 2009 A documentary by Jan Mueller about the largest Hip Hop Festival in Cambodia Together with the Centre Culturel Français, Meta House organized the capital's largest hip hop festival from May 16 to 24 2009. The festival started off with a performance at the Chenla Theatre by French dance company Accrorap, followed by contemporary dance with Belle and French hip hop dancer Sébastien Ramirez, performances by the Tiny Toones and film screenings at Meta House and the CCF. The festival concluded with a big open-air hip hop jam at Wat Bothum, organised by Meta House and funded by the CCF, the Goethe Institute/German Cultural Foundation, and the 'Elysée Fund'. On stage were Khmer performers whose names will sound familiar to hip hop lovers in Cambodia -- DJ Sdey, MC Curley, DJ Illest, Khmer clarinettist Bun Hong and Cambodian percussionists Soum Phearum, Porn Samrith and Eb Vutha.
