This is a video in my series of 1-on-1 interviews, conducted with people who - in my view - are doing interesting work with ideas that matter, often (though not exclusively) from the field of philosophy. In this one, I have a conversation with Matthew Sharpe, who is a Professor of Philosophy at Australian Catholic University, the National Head of School of Philosophy at ACU, and one of the founders and board members of the International Society for Philosophy as a Way of Life. He is also the author of a number of books and articles, and a translator of Pierre Hadot. In our conversation, we range over a number of interconnected topics, including what philosophy as a way of life is and isn't, the contemporary interest in that model and the new organization promoting it, how philosophy as a way of life continued on past antiquity down to the present, his interests in continental thinkers, and a number of other topics If you'd like to support my work producing videos like this, become a Patreon supporter!
