మన శత్రువు బయట లేడు! BG 6.5 Telugu Explaination | P V Ramanaiah | @AMCTELUGU

*The mind is our friend... the mind is our enemy.* This great teaching of Lord Krishna in the 6th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, verse 5, can change the life of every human being. In this video, you will learn: ✅ Who is the real cause of our downfall? ✅ How to make the mind a friend? ✅ The difference between intellect, mind, will, and ego ✅ The path shown by the Bhagavad Gita to achieve success in life ✅ How to control the mind through meditation? Uddharedatmanatmanam natmanamavasadayet . Atmaiva hyaatmano bandhuh atmaiva ripuratmanah . 5 . BG 6.5: Do not uplift yourself by the power of your mind, nor do you fall. Because the mind is our friend and the mind can become our enemy. We are the cause of our rise or fall. No one else can travel the path of attaining God for us. Gurus and great men show us the way, but we ourselves have to travel the path. There is a saying in Hindi. ‘Ek peda do pakshi baithe, ek guru ek chela, apani karani guru utare, apani karani chela’, meaning, there are two birds on one tree – one is the Guru and the other is the disciple. The Guru descends by his own efforts, and the disciple also descends by his own actions.’ Infinite births have passed before us, and great men who have attained God are always present on this earth. If there are no such great men in this world at any time, the living beings of that time cannot attain God. Otherwise, how will they achieve their goal of life of attaining God? That is why God ensures that there are great souls who have attained Godhead in every age to guide sincere seekers and inspire humanity. So in countless previous lives we have met great souls who have attained Godhead, but we have not been able to attain Godhead. The problem is not the lack of proper guidance, but the failure to accept it or to act on it. Before we can progress, we must accept that we are responsible for our present spiritual level, or lack thereof. Only then will we have the courage to believe that our present level of progress has been achieved through our own efforts, and that we can elevate ourselves further through more effort. When we encounter adversity on the path of spiritual progress, we complain that others have done us great injustice and that they are our enemies. But our own mind is our main enemy. It is the destroyer that hinders our efforts for perfect attainment. On the one hand, as the great benefactor of the soul, the mind has the power to bring us the greatest good; on the other hand, as our greatest enemy, it also has the power to do us the greatest harm. Just as a controlled mind can bring great good, an uncontrolled mind can bring the soul down with its vile thoughts. To use it as a friend, it is important to understand the workings of the mind. Our mind works on four levels. Mind: It creates thoughts, emotions, desires, likes, and dislikes. Intellect: Its function is to think and make decisions. It understands, decides, and discerns what is good and what is bad. Mind: It is the repository of memories and experiences. It causes us to form attachments to any object or person. Ego: This is the feeling of ‘I’. Self-identification with the body creates pride. These are not four separate entities. They are four levels of functioning of the same mind. So all of them can be called mind, or mind-intellect, or mind-intellect-ego, or mind-intellect-mind-ego. They all refer to the same thing. The word 'ego' here is different from the one used in Freudian psychology. Sigmund Freud (1856 – 1939), an Austrian neurologist, proposed the first theory of psychology, which is about how the mind works. According to his theory, the ego is the 'true self'; it bridges the gap between the uncontrollable/uncontrollable desires (Id) and the values learned in childhood (Superego). In many places in the Vedic literature, mind is used in these four senses depending on the context. All of them refer to the same internal apparatus, which together are called the inner self or mind. For example: The Panchadashi, which combines these four, calls mind, and states that this is the root cause of material bondage. In the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna repeatedly says that mind and intellect are two different things, and that both should be surrendered to God. In the Yogic view, when analyzing the various fundamental principles of nature, it mentions three entities: mind, intellect, and ego. So, when Shri Krishna says that we should use the mind to elevate the soul, what he means is that we should use the higher mind and elevate the lower mind. In other words, we should use the intellect to control the mind.
