In this video I shall show you the ancient temple of SARESWAR Shiva & SAILESWSR Shiva situated in the village of Dihar on the bank of river Darkeswar in the district Bankura of West Bengal,India. In the year 1346 the Mall king of Bishnupur Prithivi Malls built those temples. The beautiful temples are made of laterite stone which were brought from Orissa. The condition of the temples is very poor. Lack of proper maintenance in course of time both these temples will be ruined invariably. Government should take necessary steps towards an immediate action to protect these historical temples. A stone Nandi Bull is found in front of the temple and probably it is very significant to address the God Shiva as Baba SARESWAR. The environment is very peaceful. The management committee of the temple has provided proper facilities for the pilgrims. During Shivaratri and. Chaitra Sankranti a huge gathering is noted. In the month of Shravana pilgrims, devotees throng here to worship Lord SHIVA bringing holy water from the holy spring of SUSUNIA, Bankura. Most of the devotees cover a bare footed journey of more or less 65 km. to perform this ritual. This place in nearer to Bishnupur. From Bishnupur it is hardly half an hour's journey.
