Tuireadh Iain Ruadh (lament for "red" Iain)
Oran gu math sgoineal is brònach agus tha guth aig Ishbel binn is laider. Ach chan eil an t-oran seo ach air teip cassette(Lèodhas mo ghràdh) agus chan eil an e air CD sam bidh- is bochd sin. Budh toigh leam mar a bha e. Tha seist aon an fear seo nach eil ann clar eile. Tha sin: "Dìobradh damh a mharg 'san fhrìth, Dìobradh eala h-ealg fhìn, Dìobradh mathair rùn a chridh' 's mi gun dàimh, gun ghaol gun dionadh" "As a deer abandoning it's fawn in the deer forest, As a swan deserting its young As a mother forsaking her beloved child, So I am left friendless, unloved, and unprotected" This is such a wonderful song and Ishbel's version here is the best. Her voice makes it haunting in its beauty. Unfortunately the only recording of her singing it that I know of is on a cassette tape "Leòdhas mo ghràdh". It has not been put onto CD - that I know of unfortunately,. She sings a verse here (see above) that is not in any other version of this song that is recorded. Note for those who know no Gaelic - "Iain ruadh" (red Iain) refers to complexion, as in red haired.
