Urinary tract calculi (stones) are an important cause of acute abdominal pain, classically presenting with "loin to groin" pain. Because of the potential to cause obstructive acute kidney injury, hydronephrosis and even sepsis, its key that junior doctors and medical students are able to confirm the presence of urinary tract calculi confidently and accurately. CT KUB (Kidney, Ureters and Bladder) are the first-line imaging investigation in patients with suspected urinary tract stones.
