Britney sets the record straight against all those who sought to destroy her đź’…
Britney Spears has been called many things over her life, and best selling author wasn't what people were expecting of her when she started playing on the radio in 1998. She never expected most of the things that happened in her life either, but not for happy reasons. Her book, The "Woman in me" really exposes the misogyny which was so prevalent in the 2000's and unashamedly calls out double standards, the way she was demeaned by basically everyone, and the impossibility to be the "right woman". No matter what she did she was "bad" because she was unashamedly herself, until the world really turned against her when "Cry me a River" from Justin Timberlake came out, after that, the public's perception of Britney had been forever changed and she was used as a beacon for all that was wrong with the world, and mostly - women. The terrible treatment by her family, the paparazzi, and let's be honest, a lot of us, made her life a living hell, until her family really finished the job with the conservatorship. What she's been through is disgusting and shows the lengths that are gone to in order to control women, and worse, how mental health can be weaponized to dehumanize someone to the point they aren't even seen as someone with personhood anymore. We still see it today with how people talk about her online. There's SO much to discuss in this video!
