Matthew Chapter 26 SD 480p

With Chapter twenty-six, Matthew’s Gospel turns to the Passion, followed by the death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The chapter beings with the chief priests and elders plotting “to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.” (Matthew 26:4) This takes place, according to both Matthew and Mark, two days before the Passover. (Matthew 26:2; Mark 14:1) The description of this plot is followed by Jesus being anointed at Bethany by a woman with an alabaster jar of costly ointment. As a new and perfect Joseph, Jesus, writes Pitre, “is the innocent son whose righteous blood is going to be poured out, who is going to be betrayed unto death, so that all of his brothers — in this case the disciples — and the whole world might be saved.” Brant Pitre, “Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion (Year A),” catholicproductions.com.
