Relief Driver Academy

The City of Fountain Fire Department's Relief Driver Academy prepares firefighters for one of the most demanding roles on the fireground. More than just driving the apparatus, relief drivers are responsible for safely transporting crews, securing emergency scenes, managing water supply, and supporting critical operations. Now entering its 10th year, the academy has trained hundreds of firefighters from departments across Colorado, strengthening emergency response through mentorship, professional development, and regional collaboration. At its core, the program is about investing in people—building the next generation of leaders who will continue serving their communities with skill, confidence, and dedication.
