In this comparison, we pit two models that recently hit the market this summer. The Ford Focus debuts its fourth generation, and the Kia Ceed follows suit with its third. While the American model has already carved out a niche in the compact C-segment, with strong sales over its 20-year history, the Korean model arrives completely revamped and with a notable leap in quality, ready to claim its share of the market. We asked Ford for a test unit of the Focus, and only a 120-hp diesel with an automatic transmission was available. We then had to ask Kia for a test unit similar to the Ford's specifications, so the brand gave us the only diesel option available with an automatic transmission: a 136-hp 1.6 CRDi.
