Mechanical Primary Treatment with HUBER Drum Screen Liquid at WWTP Saalbach (Austria)

HUBER SE carried out a particularly exciting project for the Saalbach-Hinterglemm wastewater treatment plant. The plant, built in 2024, consists of an inlet pumping station, a drum screen, a sludge thickener (HUBER Disc Thickener S-DISC), and the peripherals. A HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID has now been successfully commissioned there – a modern, compact solution for mechanical pre-treatment that offers numerous advantages: ▪️Small footprint compared to conventional primary settling tanks ▪️Primary settling tanks require a retention time of 0.5 to 2 hours – the HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID requires only a fraction of the space and volume and completes the task within a few minutes ▪️A reduction in the COD value lowers the energy requirement in the aeration process and at the same time increases the energy yield in the digestion tower ▪️Easy operation: Flexible switching on and off of the plant depending on daily or seasonal utilization – as is the case in tourist regions (such as Saalbach-Hinterglemm), for example ▪️Easy cleaning of the machine during operation using air, water, or high-pressure cleaning The results are impressive: the plant runs with maximum energy efficiency and is reliable in operation. It is therefore optimally tailored to the requirements of modern wastewater treatment plants.
