GM LS4 V8 - How to replace the Serpentine Belt (Cheap Trick)
Nothing is easy to do on an LS4. We have all come to accept this. One thing that needs to be done on a regular basis is changing out the Serpentine belt. A dealer will charge you hundreds of dollars to do this. I have a cheap way to change the belt on your own that only requires some basic hand tools. What you will need: 1. The Serpentine Belt. I am using Dayco 6PK2900 2. A 3-5 inch hose clamp. That's a a hose clamp with a diameter range of 3 to 5 inches. 3. A ratchet with an 8mm socket or an 8mm wrench 4. Needle nose pliers or similar to get the splash shield off. You may need a flat blade screw driver if you have the plunger type rivets. 5. The usual safety equipment. Optionally you could jack the front of the car up and go as far as removing the wheel to gain more room. Take your time and be safe. Disconnect the battery if you think you or someone else will start the car while you are working on it. Remember I am not responsible for damage or injury. Music Bensound.com
