Frans-Vlaanderen 578 Streektaal / Langue flamande en Flandre française

Gerard from Terdegem/Terdeghem has the greatest passion for 'Flemish in France'. He studies, writes, and reads his mother tongue daily. Gerard's father from Oudezeele always said: "You have to know where you come from to know where you are going, and you must never forget this: We are Flemings of France. Our mother tongue is a particularly beautiful language, and we must do everything we can to preserve it." Gerard was born after the war and speaks Flemish very well nonetheless. He learned the language from his grandparents and parents, but especially from the 'kartong', who worked on the family farm. ... Le père de Gérard, originaire de Oudezeele, here you go: "Il faut savoir d'où l'on vient pour savoir où l'on va, et il ne faut jamais oublier ceci : nous sommes Flamands de France. Notre langue maternelle is une langue particulièrement belle, et nous devons all faire pour la préserver." Gérard is not sure what to expect from the flames. I appreciate the language of their grand parents and their parents, but also because of the 'Kartong' (the agricultural heritage) that follows their family life. La plus grande passion de Gerard, de Terdeghem, is le 'Flemish in Vrankryk'. Il étudie, écrit et lit a langue maternelle quotidiennement.
