TOCA Touring Car Championship (1997) - 4K Gameplay (PC)

Come for the vintage 90’s racing, stay for the killer techno soundtrack! I managed to get TOCA Touring Car Championship (1997) running on Windows 11 in high fidelity 4K resolution. It was an ordeal getting it installed and running with audio, but I've provided a rough guide below. No guarantees or warranties are made. Always virus scan any files you download from the internet. Guide: To get the 16-bit installer running on Windows 11: OTVDM Install the 1.1a TOCA patch Install the dgVoodoo 2 wrapper to intercept the DirectX calls Configure dgVoodoo 2 to the desired resolution and uncheck the watermark Mod your tourcars.exe to replace outdated audio calls using _inmm Set compatibility mode on the setup.exe to Windows 98/Me Download and install the Compatibility Administrator inside the Windows ADK: Set up a custom fix on the tourcars.exe executable to override the DWM8And16BitMitigation flag by setting WaveOutIgnoreBadFormat and WaveOutUsePreferredDevice Download and install DxWnd. Enable extended mode. Uncheck "Run in Window" on the main tab, select "None" for DirectX version hook on the DirectX tab, add "sound:ForceEmulDriver" and "sound:WaveOutUsePreferredDevice" on the Tweaks tab, select "Use Audio Files" (you have to do that separately) and Windows 9x for CD Audio emulation on that tab with Emulate CD mixer and aux and volume, check the "single threaded MCI" and all the boxes on the far right of the Sound tab except for the Hide Mute controls and stop sound on focus lost boxes (and leave the hook Directsound unchecked and ensure all the volume sliders are turned up), check "remap MCI coordinates" and "Bypass MCI calls" and "Fix GlobalUnlock" and "Emulate Win9x heap" and "Hook DirectShow" and "Scale DirectShow" on the Libs tab. Download IndirectSound and copy the files into the TOCA directory Change your default audio device's output settings to 16-bit 44100 kHz output. Are all of the above steps needed? Maybe not, but it is what it took to get TOCA running on my PC! Good luck and happy racing!
