In this video, we will talk about a very different liquid fertilizer that we can use as an alternative to our nettle fertilizer. The celandine fertilizer, which we have also explained in our video on combating wireworm, is richer in nutrients than nettle fertilizer, and has the properties to keep subsoil pests away from our seedlings with its ingredients. Nettle contains approximately 3.1 percent nitrogen, 3.2 percent phosphorus and 2.7 percent potassium, while celandine contains 3.2 percent nitrogen, 3.4 percent phosphorus and 3 percent potassium. Based on these values, we can see that celandine has more nutritional content than nettle. However, nettle manure contains more substances that will activate plant growth enzymes in the soil. Celandine, on the other hand, contains more substances that will trigger the hormones of the plants. Considering the unique characteristics of these fertilizers, it seems more logical to use celandine fertilizer during the development period of the seedlings and nettle fertilizer during the fruiting periods. While nettle fertilizer has a short-term repellent effect on subsoil pests, celandine fertilizer has a longer-term effect. From this point of view, it seems much more advantageous to use swallow fertilizer to keep wireworm, nematode and root-eating larvae away from the environment from May to the end of June. Celandine is found in woodlands, stream banks and alpine meadows on mountain tops. In different parts of Anatolia, celandine is also called Temre grass or Henna grass. You can collect celandine in May-June, when the plants begin to bloom. Here is how we prepare the infusion of celandine. Put the celandines in half or a little more of a bowl, if you want, break them a little, add the water and leave for 7 8 days. If the environment is cold, it can be kept for 10 days. Take 1 liter of this infusion and mix it with 9 liters of clean water. Pour 1 liter of this mixture to a root. Do this every 15 days starting in May. Besides using celandine as fertilizer, we can also use it for different purposes. It can also be used to disinfect the soil. To do this, you need to dry the flowers and leaves of celandine and grind it into powder. Before planting bulbous plants, this powder is sprinkled to disinfect the soil. By doing this process, where you will get excellent results, you will destroy various pathogens as well as pest larvae.. Mulch can be made from celandine and in addition to the benefits of mulching, you can prevent pests from coming to your seedlings through the soil.
