Therefore, Taiwanese poker rooms play a somewhat unique game called a "timed cash game," rather than the usual cash games. Timed Cash Game Register at the establishment ➔ Everyone starts with the same amount of chips at the scheduled time (add-ons possible) Limited to one table (assigned seating) 2-hour (or 2.5-hour) game The blinds are raised only once during the game Prizes are distributed to all remaining players according to the amount of chips they have left at the end of the game. The calculation method is based on the "initial stack = entry fee minus commission," and then the prize money is distributed slightly more to top finishers and slightly less to others. *Prize money distribution rates vary by establishment. Unlimited Re-entry Possible If you run out of chips before the end of the game, you can either leave the game, or you can re-enter by paying the same entry fee again. Similarly, while still alive, you can add chips at any time during the game by paying the same entry fee again. However, it's important to note that both methods involve paying a commission again for a single game, making them generally unprofitable in terms of expected value. Game Commission Instead of a pot rake system where a fee is deducted from the pot after each hand, this is a time-charge system paid only once upon registration. Mid-Game Participation Possible If there are seats available, you can join a game that is already in progress. (However, this is not advisable as it simply shortens the playtime.) No seat changes: Seats are assigned by lottery upon joining the game; you cannot freely choose or move seats. No leaving the game: You cannot leave a game in progress. You may leave your seat during the game, but your blinds will be reduced. Maximum 10 players: The maximum number of players per table was usually 10. Advantages: It's fun to play a tournament-style game in two hours with fixed table members and the same stack. Since everyone starts with the same stack, there is no money pressure arising from stack differences. It's not a pot-rake system, and there are no antes, so you can broaden your hand range and have fun. You can't be outmaneuvered by lower-ranked players until your stack runs out. Disadvantages: Since it ends in two hours, there's no time to carefully observe your opponents. You can't choose your table or seat, so the level of your opponents is unknown until you actually sit down. You can't escape even if you're at a table full of higher-ranked opponents.
