Halo 3 - Never Forget [Cover By DAR]

Shoutout to darkknight1235 for requesting this track, and thanks to all whom voted for this one in the Cover Battlegrounds! Honestly, this one was a bit tricky for me. It was hard trying to figure out what to try adding to an already beautiful piece. I was thinking of adding some clean guitar parts or maybe even an acoustic in some places. I also thought of trying to make some new melodies to add on to this song. However, it all just didn't feel quite right, and it would've changed up the mood and feel of the song too much (in my opinion). In the end, I decided to stay true to the original, only with some very, very small additions and changes. One such change was lowering the pitch by two semitones. I had decided to try this since I had read on the Halo wiki that "Never Forget" was played a few keys lower than "Unforgotten" in order to give it a more solemn tone. I figured "Well, if I go just a little lower, it'll sound even more solemn, right?" I also added some bass drums in certain places for more impact. I also decided to use a wind chime around 1:16 since I felt like the cymbal needed some extra sparkle to go with it for that transition. Speaking of sparkle, I decided to throw in a glockenspiel for the last part of the song as well to add a delicate, dreamy sound to go alongside the piano parts. Lastly, I added in an oboe and a clarinet for the last minute of the song as well. I'm thinking that maybe in the future, I might try my hand at a sort of post-rock sounding cover of the "Midnight Version" of this track from Halo 4.
