It was November 3, 1989. Leig had been invited to a classmate's sixteenth birthday party. It was a beach party, which promised to be a huge event, with lots of kids from the school and all her friends. Her parents were initially reluctant to give her permission, but finally, seeing that there would be adults there to supervise the kids, they agreed. They agreed to pick her up around 11:00 PM. At 10:50 PM, Leig's stepfather showed up at the party, but she was nowhere to be found. With the help of some guests, Brad searched the entire house and surrounding area for the fourteen-year-old in vain. After searching for her for about an hour without success, he decided to return home, hoping she had returned on her own. But sadly, she wasn't there. That night, Leigh's parents lay awake, tormented by worry. At dawn, her stepfather decided to return to the North Stockton Surf Club to continue the search. Walking along the beach, about ninety meters from the house, he came across a scene that left him transfixed. Lying on the ground among the dunes was Leigh. Lifeless. And sadly, just one look was enough to understand that her death had been violent and merciless. That night, at the party, something profoundly inhuman happened. But what followed was even worse: the code of silence, the omertà, the indifference. And, as if that weren't enough, not even the truth could bring justice.
