I Love This Place: Joseph Stickney and his Mount Washington Hotel

This is a true story about a man, his dream, and the perfect timing of money, teamwork, and influence to create--on a grand scale--interest, tourism, and preservation throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire. At the turn of the 20th century there was one man, a native of New Hampshire, who had the means and desire to create what he later called his "monument," the Mount Washinton Hotel, and to advance the tourism interests of the state he loved. His name was Joseph Stickney. Mark Leno is a native of New Hampshire who has written several local historical books and published "Factory on Fire Cocheco Mill Blaze of 1907", in 2017. For years Mark has also hiked and visited the White Mountains around the Mount Washington Hotel where he stayed for the first time several years ago and began his research about the rich and fascinating history of the hotel and the area, leading to this book.
