(S-3 Ep-23) Visit Jonesport, Beals Island, and Addison, Maine!

Here’s a short video tour of the waterfront in Jonesport, Beals Island, and Addison, Maine. Jonesport features a couple of boatyards, a couple of small grocery/convenience stores, hardware stores (one of them owned by Hamilton Marine and stocked with boating/marine supplies. Gas and diesel fuel are available, and the US Coast Guard has a station there. Beals Island is just across the bridge from Jonesport and the Coast Guard station, and features “Bayview Take-out,” featuring a menu of various seafood choices in addition to the usual take-out food stand items such as burgers, fries, and onion rings. Addison is just down the coast, between Milbridge and Jonesport-Beals, and does not have any amenities to offer yachting folks within walking distance, however it might be worth an overnight stop if the weather is kicking up. You won’t get into town but will anchor within half a mile or so of town, but you can run a dinghy up the river to the town landing quite easily. The small-town harbors along the “Bold Coast” of Maine are typically “working waterfronts” and not visited very often by yachtsmen. You won’t find any fancy yacht marinas with slips to tie up to with power and water but making a stop for a day or two with the boat “on the hook’ is doable, and I think they are stops worthwhile, and will add wonderful memories to your voyage.
