For people who are prone to Distress, the soothe system is often underdeveloped and that means that people are either stuck in a state of Threat or in a state of Drive. That leads to stress and BURNOUT. understand the threat drive soothe systems. There's not much scope to recover or de-escalate Distress without a capacity to Soothe.
