In the UK, protests erupt outside every major party conference. From the Conservatives in Manchester (2021 & 2023) to Labour in Liverpool (2025), the cycle has repeated: protestors divided, politicians unchallenged. This year in Liverpool, familiar groups returned — Palestine Action, farmers, anti-vaxxers, anti-Brexiteers, socialists, left and right activists — each with their own cause, from digital ID to wider grievances. But for the first time, rival voices faced each other in conversation, testing whether dialogue could overcome division. At the Labour conference in 2025, the question remains: can these groups finally break the cycle, or will it begin again?
