The battleship SMS Markgraf at Scapa Flow
This is the Markgraf, a 25,000 ton Konig class battleship which turned turtle as she sank. She was interned at Scapa flow and deliberately scuttled after the end of WW1 to prevent her falling into British Hands ( Der Tag ).The Markgraf fought at Jutland where she engaged the British battlecruisers & the Fifth battle squadron (HMS Warspite et al). We did two short dives on her using just air, dive buddy was Phil Harper, max depth 42m. the highlights of the dives were a 15 cm casement gun, the armoured belt, intact portholes, an Imperial German Navy flag left by visiting German divers and the twin rudders
