Inside Ukraine's elite unit hunting Russian soldiers with fiber optic drones

Russia entered the 2026 spring and summer campaign hoping to accelerate its advance across eastern Ukraine. Instead, its offensive has slowed dramatically, with gains far smaller than in previous years. One reason is Ukraine's rapidly evolving drone warfare.
