Ugly But Solid Reinforcing | CMU Wall Tried to Stop Me

Remodel EP: 26 The CMU wall is finally coming together. In this video, I reinforce the wall by installing vertical and horizontal rebar anchored into the concrete footer and filling the reinforced block cells with high-strength concrete. While masonry grout is the traditional choice, the cost difference for this project was significant, so I opted for concrete in the reinforced cells. After the wall is reinforced, I cap the entire assembly with pressure-treated 2x8 lumber separated from the masonry by sill seal to help reduce moisture transfer between the concrete block and wood framing. This phase brings the foundation one step closer to being ready for the rest of the wall structure that will support my new hand built trusses.
