If you've ever flown into Tokyo Narita, you might have noticed something really strange while taxiing to the gate. Right in the middle of the taxiways, there's a functioning farm. It looks like a complete mistake, but it's actually the final scar of a conflict that turned a quiet countryside into a literal battlefield. But...why? Well, it's due to one of the biggest government miscalculations in Japan's modern history. In fact, it was a decision so miscalculated it led to 3 deaths, 40 years of protests and an eventual retreat back into Tokyo's city center.
