My first trip shore fishing Hicks Lake in Sasquatch Provincial Park was an absolute disaster. Here is how I pivoted my strategy, brought out the big guns, and saved the trip! I headed to Hicks Lake for the first time aiming for a species challenge: Rainbows, Cutthroat, and the elusive Kokanee. My initial game plan was to shore fish the northside trail, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. After an exhausting hike through thick brush, I got thrown off course, caught absolutely zero fish, and ended up slipping off a rock into the water. Defeated but not done, I came back the next day with a completely new strategy and my trolling kayak. By targeting the deep ends, Day 2 turned into an epic day of trolling with non-stop Kokanee action.
