#214 Systemdienlichkeit und Netzausbau. Gespräch mit Gunther Gehlert ✦ Podcast Klima und Kohle
In this episode, I speak with Professor Gunther Gehlert from the West Coast University of Applied Sciences about how grid-supportive behavior and intelligent grid design can help limit the enormous costs of grid expansion. Investments of around €535 billion are expected in the distribution grid sector alone to reach net-zero energy costs – many times the amount invested annually today. We discuss which regulatory obstacles, such as the baseload privilege for industry or the lack of separation between electricity supply contracts and grid usage agreements, hinder grid-supportive behavior and what needs to change. We also examine the potential of electric vehicles as bidirectional energy storage devices and the role of time-variable grid fees as an incentive. ``` ✦ Chapter ✦ 00:00:00 Introduction & Live Podcast Announcement 00:01:02 Topic: System Serviceability & Grid Expansion 00:01:46 Costs: €600 Billion Grid Expansion to Net Zero 00:03:24 Distribution Networks vs. Transmission Network 00:09:16 What is System Serviceability? 00:10:27 Section 14 of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG): Control Box & Smart Meter 00:13:33 Time-Variable Network Charges 00:18:46 Separation of Electricity Supply Contract / Network Usage Contract 00:21:03 Base Load Privilege Section 19 Paragraph 2 of the German Electricity Network Access Ordinance (StromNEV) 00:26:10 Roadmap for Industrial Companies 00:29:35 Battery Storage & Vehicle-to-Grid 00:40:03 Summary & EEG Reform Listen to the podcast episode on 🎧 ✦ Podigee: https://hteheesen.podigee.io ✦ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5WvLZvT... ✦ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast... ✦ Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.de/podcasts/923b...
