Melbourne train derailment
The ATSB has published a preliminary report into the derailment of a six-car Metro Trains Melbourne passenger train, which occurred in Clifton Hill in Melbourne’s north-east on 13 July 2025. The derailment caused substantial damage to rail infrastructure, and shutdown services on the Mernda and Hurstbridge lines, resulting in significant disruptions to rail commuters over a week.
