Luigi Mangione's conditions in jail: Report | Banfield

Gene Borrello, a former organized crime associate who spent 13 years behind bars, including four at Rikers, joins NewsNation's "Banfield" to discuss Luigi Mangione's upcoming court appearance on a second-degree murder charge. Currently held in a centuryold Pennsylvania prison, Mangione has a cell to himself and is kept away from other inmates. The prison's menu includes fruit, grits, scrambled eggs and "porcupine meatballs" for lunch, a dish made of ground beef and rice. However, Borrello warns that Mangione will eventually face the harsh realities of Rikers, including substandard food, unsanitary conditions and safety issues.
