"Masked Ward" is a super-immersive escape-themed mystery film adaptation of the best-selling mystery series, which has sold over 1.1 million copies. To coincide with the release of the Blu-ray and DVD, we're offering a special first look at a selection of scenes from the bonus feature, the "Scene Selection Visual Commentary." Warner Bros. Television & Home Entertainment (Tokyo, Minato-ku, Senior Vice President, Mitsuru Oda) will begin selling and renting "Masked Ward" on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as digitally streaming, on July 3, 2020. This super-immersive escape-themed mystery film is based on the best-selling mystery series, which has sold over 1.1 million copies! This film features two of today's most popular actors, Kentaro Sakaguchi, in his first solo film role, and Mei Nagano, playing the heroine in her first mystery film role, creating an outstanding pairing. To coincide with the release of the Blu-ray and DVD, we're giving you a special first look at some of the bonus footage, the "Scene Selection Visual Commentary"! The "Scene Selection Visual Commentary," included on the Premium Edition Blu-ray and DVD, is packed with approximately 60 original footage shot by Kentaro Sakaguchi, Mei Nagano, and director Hisashi Kimura, who watch scenes from the film and share behind-the-scenes details and spoilers they can only share now, content that wasn't revealed at the time of the film's release. This special release features footage of Sakaguchi and Nagano looking back on events that occurred during filming. During events and interviews around the time of the film's release, Nagano revealed that she often had nightmares during filming, and she touches on this story in the "Scene Selection Visual Commentary." Nagano's nightmares were apparently full of mysterious and puzzling content, such as being shot in the right side of her back by a stranger or a clown peeking in her direction. Although he was shot, he survived. However, there's more to the story, as Nagano blushed and smiled on the film's opening day, revealing, "I died...!" Nagano then cheerfully explained that he finally woke up a little after being shot. Sakaguchi gently responded, "But they say nightmares are more auspicious," leading to the conclusion that Nagano's nightmare was a sign of something good to come. On the other hand, when asked by the MC if events during filming ever affect his dreams, Sakaguchi firmly replied, "Not at all." He coolly replied, "I'm almost asleep! I fall asleep quickly, wake up quickly, take a bath, and it's the best (laughs)." Director Kimura then revealed, "I often have dreams where we're still cutting the scenes after we've wrapped up filming," to which Sakaguchi and Nagano responded, "Wow!" in surprise at this unexpected side of the director.
