What can the fall of the Wall do to a writer's writing? The texts of Wolfgang Hilbig, a writer socialized in the GDR who defected to the West in 1985, do not deal with the fall of the Wall. Rather, the upheaval represented by the disappearance of his home country in 1989 and the revelations about Stasi infiltration that shook the East German underground scene changed the publication methods of his texts and infiltrated his writing.
