Imagination and Empathy: The Call of the Clown | Kato Buss | TEDxUCO

In an increasingly desensitized world, Kato Buss, Ph.D. discusses the importance of identifying and accessing our inner-clown. As a universal archetype, the clown evokes the child in us all and serves as a greater metaphor of the human condition. We all have hopes, dreams, fears, and flaws. The clown asks us to share our vulnerabilities, in order to better relate and appreciate each other. Kato Buss is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts. He has over twenty years’ experience as an actor, director, playwright, and teacher. Dr. Buss holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Oregon. His work has been published in the Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, Western States Theatre Review, and the North- Northwest Anthology of New Plays. Kato is an awarding winning teacher and mentor. At UCO, he teaches acting, directing, and theatre history. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
