El Manjar Azteca: La sal ancestral que llega a nuestros días

On the shores of the extinct Lake Texcoco, an ancient secret refuses to disappear. While the modern world tried to cover these lands with the asphalt of an airport, Don Max, with only a couple of students, is the last salt worker in the lake basin of the Valley of Mexico, continuing to practice an alchemy that dates back to the 14th century. This documentary explores the profound connection between humankind and the salt-rich earth; from the tributes recorded in the Codex Mendoza to the contemporary struggle to preserve a craft that is, quite literally, the essence of our history. Join Don Max and his grandson on a journey of resilience, fire, and crystallization: the last breath of earth salt in the Valley of Mexico. Let's go to San Cristóbal Nexquipayac and visit the workshop of Don Maximino Nopaltitla. This documentary uses AI-generated illustrations to depict historical scenes and traditional processes where no original photographic records were available.
