www.moonlightfeather.com Feather Mask Tutorial Supplies: Mask 1 Pack - Green Bronze Lady Amherst Pheasant Plumage Feathers 0.10 Oz. 1/4 Lb - Silver Grey Turkey Rounds Wing Quill Wholesale Feathers (Bulk) Trim, Rhinestones, or other embellishments Hot glue Glue gun Step 1: The most important aspect of making a great feathered mask is knowing the order in which you should glue your feathers. For this tutorial, we will start with the longest feathers and work are way to shorter feathers and the smaller final details. So, get organized. Prep all of our feathers. For your turkey feathers, snip off the quill to the base of the feather. For your pheasant feathers, trim orr the fluffy base so that you are left with a clean, flat feather tip. Step 2: First, glue the turkey feathers to the mask so that the feathers point out towards your ears. You want them to point up and out. You will start at the top corner of your eye and work your way in towards your nose. You want to make sure both side of the mask are even. At this point you might want to trim some of the feathers to give the mask a more uniform shape. Step 3: Take your smaller pheasant feathers and glue them to our mask around the eye holes. You should start at the outer corner of each eye and move in. These smaller feathers should also point out towards your ears. You may need to use two layers of feathers on the upper portion of your mask depending on its size. If this is the case, start with the outer layer at the very top of your mask, then do another layer on the inside directly above the eyes. Step 4: Now we will focus on finishing the middle of your mask. To give it a clean finished look, you just want to go back over your nose starting at the bottom of your mask. The wider ends of the feathers should face down. Once the mask is covered, add feathers in the middle facing out in each direction. This will blend all the feathers together. Step 5: Lastly, we will take our rhinestone strip and glue it around the edge of the eyes. Of course, you can continue to add more detail to your mask such as lace, glitter, or even eyelashes. Masks are not only easy to make, but there are endless possibilities in regards to shape and color so you can get really creative. Here at Moonlight Feather we have a huge variety of feathers that we hope inspire your next project.
