making a sheet metal lid for a mason jar double boiler

I melt wax with some frequency in the course of the woodturning and sheet metal projects that I undertake. I had been getting by with just setting my mason ar of wax on a piece of wire at the bottom of my pot, but this allowed both heat and water vapor to escape too quickly. So to hit two birds with one stone, I decided to make a lid which would also hold the jar off the bottom of the pot. This involves some basic sinking to start, inverting the form to create a dome and rim, and peening the rim over the edge of the pot. This is a wonderfully basic project, very forgiving, which can be done with a bare minimum of tools, and gives a fair idea of the way metal moves. I look forward to seeing ya'll next time, but in the meanwhile keep the hands rough, and the shop always open cheers.
