Colossians 1:15-18 | Jesus as the Creator | Supremacy of Christ

In this section of Colossians, Paul begins the discussion in verse 15 by addressing the nature of Jesus Christ, emphasizing that, as the “image of God,” He is God (cf. John 14:7-9) and, as the “firstborn of all creation,” He is the Preeminent Creator and thus God. Paul develops the role of Jesus as the Creator in verses 16 and 17, and then, in verse 18, refers to Jesus as the Head of the church and the “firstborn of the dead,” indicating that He is supreme over all things.
