Leonard Onyango joined the Kenya Defence Forces with dreams of a bright future. But after taking a loan and falling into debt, his struggles led him down the path of alcohol addiction. What began as a coping mechanism soon consumed his life costing him relationships and nearly his career. After several close calls, including his drink being spiked multiple times, Leonard’s turning point came during a deployment to Garissa. There, he found his way back to church and began rebuilding his faith. Through prayer, discipline, and a renewed walk with God, he broke free from addiction. Now two and a half years sober, Leonard shares his story to inspire both civilians and fellow officers battling similar struggles. His journey from brokenness to redemption is a powerful reminder that with faith, recovery is possible and purpose can rise from even the hardest battles.
