Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, the esteemed Padma Bhushan awardee and master musician, returned to the United Kingdom in July 2025 after a significant pause, once again mesmerizing audiences with his unparalleled artistry. A beacon of Indian classical music, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty stood as a pillar of the Patiala-Kasur Gharana, yet his musical prowess extended far beyond it, embracing the delicate nuances of the Jaipur, Kirana, and Gwalior traditions, as well as South India's Carnatic music. Guided by the wisdom of legendary mentors, including Padma Bhushan Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh and Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, his journey was one of profound mastery and artistic evolution. With over 100 albums to his name, performances at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, and a repertoire spanning Dhrupad, Khyal, Thumri, and devotional genres in multiple languages, Panditji’s contributions to the world of music earned him numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He was accompanied by the talented Soumen Sarkar on tabla, Gourab Chatterjee on harmonium, and Meher Paralikar on tanpura and vocal support.
