Club Ctesiphon - Shmup Discotheque (Vol. 01)

So this the first of many mixes dedicated to my covers of classic Shmup games. For those of you going "huh", a Shmup is generally one of those games you find in the arcades where you usually control a spaceship taking out a whole enemy armada or die trying (until you run out of credits or get yourself infinite tries on MAME). Classic pick-up-and-play fare. And more usually than not, they pack such banging music, adding a dimension to all the eye-to-hand action. Of course, not all of the featured games have arcade cabinet origins. Some went straight to console, like Sol Deace (Mega Drive/Genesis) or Feace (Sharp X68000/Mega CD) or Nexzr (TurboDuo), released in 1990, resp. 1992. Gradius Gaiden is also a console exclusive title (PlayStation) even though Gradius and Life Force/Salamander have arcade origins. EEG/AXON from Darius Gaiden and Snowfield from Gradius Gaiden, composed by ZUNTATA resp. Norikazu Miura were previously released individually and make a return in the final segment of the mix.
