Today, we have a small claims hearing in a case with a couple who are suing for the return of their $4K security deposit after they say their former landlord refused to return it and in their opinion, is charging them for both pre existing damage to the house, as well as trying to wrongly offset her costs from the normal wear and tear of the rental home. They feel that the security deposit was withheld without any evidence, & was done in “bad faith” so they are asking for treble damages of $12K. Will the judge agree with the couple? Let’s find out...
