The vast majority settled in the outskirts of cities such as Curitiba, Ponta Grossa, Palmeira, Antonina, Lapa, Campo Largo, São José dos Pinhais, Morretes, Araucária, and Paranaguá. Starting in September 1878, the Alfredo Chaves Colony emerged in the historical landscape of the province of Paraná, named in honor of the Minister of Agriculture at the time of the settlement. The site was only twenty-three kilometers from Curitiba and was the embryo of the city of Colombo, which at that time welcomed 160 Italian settlers, distributed across eighty rural lots. The land granted by the government of Dom Pedro II totaled an area of 4,847,970 m². The Alfredo Chaves Colony grew and became a prosperous settlement, and the new atmosphere of the Republic brought it political emancipation through State Decree No. 11 of January 8, 1890, sanctioned by state president José Marques Guimarães. At that time, the name of the Alfredo Chaves Colony was changed to Colombo, in homage to the discoverer of the Americas. João Gualberto Bittencourt presided over the first Colombo City Council, which was elected on April 21, 1892. On that day, the city received a distinguished visit from the state president, Lieutenant Colonel Inocêncio Serzedelo Correia. A typical Italian immigrant residence, built in 1922 on the banks of the Rodovia da Uva. The period of greatest progress for the municipality was from 1920 to 1930, when there was a significant industrial boom. Two china factories were operating in the municipal center, one of which, due to its works of art, was considered one of the finest in the country. A large glass factory also operated during this period. The reasons are unknown, but these factories were closed, and the municipality suffered enormous economic losses. On July 14, 1932, by State Decree No. 1,703, Colombo was renamed Capivari, and the territory of Bocaiúva do Sul, which had been dissolved by government decision, was annexed to its territory. On August 9, 1933, by State Decree No. 1,831, it reverted to the name Colombo. The community was dealt a severe blow on October 20, 1930, by State Decree No. 7,573, which dissolved the municipality and annexed it to the capital. Only on December 30, 1943, by State Decree No. 199, was Colombo's political and administrative power restored, this time encompassing the territories of the districts of Almirante Tamandaré and Santa Felicidade. On October 10, 1947, the district of Almirante Tamandaré was lost, becoming an autonomous municipality. Decree No. 200 of January 26, 1944, created the district of Colombo. It is worth noting that Colombo was the municipality with the highest growth rate in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, 97.6% of the municipality's population lives in subdivisions adjacent to the capital. The recent history of the municipality of Colombo is not only related to its former capital, but also to the evolution of socio-political and economic events in the region. 🤜🤜🤜🤜🤜 Discover our partner channels 🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛 Cristina Crochet: https://goo.gl/XLnbqk Mundo Curioso: https://goo.gl/c5RKAy (Channel Narrator) Vanspilla: https://goo.gl/WTZ6n2 SKY DRONE FPV: https://goo.gl/Tf1vVJ Otavio Mais: https://is.gd/89zwJn Junior Drones: https://is.gd/rOc2rU #bronisdrones #broniimagensaereas ♪ Music: The_Crows_Did_It - Nathan Moore (YouTube Library)
