The blue lake and Henddol slate mine part 1 full video

This is part 1 of the blue lake and Henddol slate mine explore we did recently in Wales. We spent the day exploring all the open cast parts of the old slate mine. We looked for an adit or adits to try and access the underground part of the mine, but unfortunately we never found it on the day. When we got home I did some research and found that the underground part of the slate mine was further West to where we were exploring. We are looking in to this and will do a part 2 to conclude the explore in the future, when we have made a plan of the route to it etc. The Blue Lake near Fairbourne is a striking, vivid blue former slate quarry (Goleuwern Quarry) dating back to 1867, located above Friog. Though a popular scenic spot for hiking, accessing the water is challenging and controversial, as the site is private land and former access points, such as the famous, often-flooded tunnel, have been blocked due to littering. The site is on private land. Reports indicate that access, including the old tunnel route, has been closed off due to littering and safety concerns. The walk to the site is popular, offering scenic views of Fairbourne, Barmouth, and the coast. It is a steep but relatively short walk, taking about 30–50 minutes. The location was a 19th-century slate quarry that was later flooded during an attempt to turn it into a hydroelectric reservoir. The vibrant color is due to residual minerals in the rock. The water is deep and cold, and the area is surrounded by dangerous, steep cliff edges, so take care if you decide to visit the place.
