The name derives from the Latin: "Cohora Chors," which means Guard Dog. This breed is known for its direct descent from the ancient Roman Molosser, a dog used by Roman legionaries. Contrary to popular belief, the Cane Corso is very sensitive and devoted to its family. But be careful, socialize it well, because it may exclude you and have problems with "strangers." It is a medium-large dog and is well-muscled. The Cane Corso is not really suitable as an apartment dog; let's not forget that, ultimately, it is a working dog, and its best role is to defend its territory. It also has a hard time being left home alone for long periods. The Cane Corso isn't exactly suitable as a first dog.
