■ Environmental Special - Wangsukcheon, Awakening the City An invitation to the wild from the urban stream, Wangsukcheon. Urban rivers are being reborn as new spaces of life. Wangsukcheon, a tributary of the Han River, originates in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, and flows through Namyangju. Once polluted by development, it was revitalized as a river of life thanks to sewage pipe maintenance projects initiated in 2003. Currently, the river maintains a Class 2 water quality and has been reborn as a vital hub for the city. With the revival of Wangsukcheon, wildlife has returned, and this return of wildlife is once again attracting people to the stream.
