Summary ⤵️ Transition questions ask you to pick the answer showing the relationship between the sentence before the blank and the sentence with the blank. Transition questions ask you to pick the answer showing the relationship between the sentence before the blank and the sentence with the blank. You only miss them for two reasons: misunderstanding the passage or not knowing the eight answer categories. Always read every word carefully, even if you think you know the answer early. Subverting expectations (however, nonetheless, by contrast) is the most common category when the second sentence goes against the first. Zooming in (for example, specifically) is when the second sentence gives an example or more detail. Swapping (in addition, similarly) is when both sentences do the same thing and could be reordered. Cause and effect (thus, therefore, as a result) works when you can say "because of sentence one, sentence two happened." Sequence (meanwhile, next, later) is for timelines, and restatement (in other words, in summary) is almost always a distractor. Confirmation (indeed, in fact) and frequency (increasingly, sometimes) are rare but usually correct when they appear. If two answer choices fall under the same category, neither is almost certainly correct. Predict the category yourself before looking at the answer choices to avoid distractors. Why watch? If this is your first view—hi, I’m James 👋 I've personally scored a 1570 on the Digital SAT (770 English, 800 Math) and have spent thousands of hours split-testing strategies, analyzing data, and building a system that helps students reliably break into the 1500+ range. Today there are a lot of SAT tutors online, but I’ve noticed none of the strategies they share even compare to the ones I've discovered in terms of effectiveness. So this channel is my way of transforming the SAT industry. Hopefully I can help you improve your SAT score, and in doing so, open doors that shape the rest of your life 🙏 Like, subscribe, and leave me a comment if you have a specific request! Thanks.
