My Fiancé Keeps Funding His Mom’s Lifestyle, And I’m Terrified About What Happens After The Marriage

I love my fiancé, and I know he works harder than almost anyone I know. We both grew up struggling financially, and we’ve spent years trying to build stable futures for ourselves. While I went back to school to improve my career, he’s been grinding nonstop with night shifts and weekend work just to earn more money. The problem is his mom. She constantly spends beyond her means — luxury vacations, shopping sprees, unnecessary loans — and whenever she runs short on money, she pressures him into helping her. He knows it’s wrong. He complains about it all the time. But somehow she always convinces him to send more. At first, I thought it wouldn’t affect our relationship because we agreed to keep our finances mostly separate after marriage. But now that the wedding is getting closer, I’m starting to panic. Right now he can afford to bail her out because he’s overworking himself constantly. What happens when he’s older? What happens when we have real bills, rent, maybe even kids? I’m scared I’m about to marry someone who will always put his mother’s financial chaos ahead of our future — even if he doesn’t mean to. And I honestly don’t know if love is enough to fix that.
